Come Meet Vi and Va and Familia! #ViandVa (+Giveaway)

This is sponsored post in collaboration with Vi and Va Dolls and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
My daughters can play with dolls all day long, they instantly become best friends and an exciting part of their world. Say hello to my daughters newest friends, sisters Vi and Va and their cousins Roxxi and Felicia.
This family of dolls is special and they've already become a part of our lives. Older sister Vi or Viviana (far right) is 16 years old and loves music, she is spontaneous and always ready to play the guitar and sing at family gatherings. Younger sister Va or Valentina (second from the left) is 15 years old and loves to bake up goodies, especially the recipes that have been handed down from her Mama and Abuelita. Felicia (far left) is the 18 year old cousin of Vi and Va and is an artist who loves to paint. Roxxi (second from the right) is 17 years old and loves to dance.
Let me tell you a little bit about the new line of dolls that you can find exclusively at Target. These dolls are different than most dolls you will see in the store, these dolls are Latina. They have darker complexions, darker hair and eyes and have a much different body type. The bodies on these dolls are much curvier and a little thicker than the average doll, much like Latina's in real life. I just absolutely love that my daughters are able to relate to these dolls with their darker skin and hair, but I was really pleased that they also included a green eyed blonde haired doll too, because Latina's can be guera too, just like me.
I love the stories that these dolls come with. When I showed my daughters the dolls, I introduced them by reading their individual stories on the outside of their box. Although I know their imaginations will take them to new places and on crazy adventures, I wanted them to really "meet" them first. The fun part was that my girls chose their dolls based on their common interests. My oldest daughter likes to cook and dance like Va and Roxxi and my younger daughter likes to play music, sing and paint just like Vi and Felicia.
The Vi and Va line of dolls helps encourage young Latina's to embrace their culture and be proud of their heritage and bodies just like the dolls. Vi and Va also encourages the importance of family. These dolls are not just friends, they are related, they are best-friends and family. How great is that? I just love it! Also, when you are shopping for these dolls at Target, keep an eye out for the line of doll fashion and quinceanera dresses, they are beautiful!
The full assortment of "Vi and Va" fashion dolls is available at Target stores and on For more information, please visit the Vi and Va Dolls site  and get social with them on Facebook and Twitter. Big Hero 6 Movie Night! (Party Food and Favor Ideas)

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BigHero6MovieNight #CollectiveBias

It doesn't happen often that my girls have been this excited about a new movie coming out on DVD. A few times a year they obsess over a new movie, although I feel like that may change as they are now growing into their very opinionated little selves.

Big Hero 6

is their current favorite movie, and since it's release earlier this week it has been on non-stop replay. The only thing I imagine they are trying to achieve by watching it so many times is to memorize all of the dialogue.

On Tuesday, after the littlest one got out of preschool we headed straight to

to pick up our very own copy of Big Hero 6. While we were there we picked up some finger foods from the frozen section so the girls can have some fun food to go along with their movie night. I tried to find something fun to eat that also goes along with the characters from the movie.

So of course, we had to have

Honey Lemon chicken wings

to represent Honey Lemon. She is probably my favorite character from the movie, she is smart and tough and stylish and my girls love her and her purse filled with fun balls.

Fredzilla may be the funniest characters from the movie, so I decided

Fredzilla fried cheese sticks

would be fun! I used frozen mozzarella sticks for our movie night, but of course you could always make your own favorite version of these for a party.

Gogo Tomago mini pizza bites

were probably my girls favorite foods from our movie night. Of course, all kiddos love mini pizzas.

To keep it real, my girls would not go near real Wasabi, so I had to go with something I knew they loved.

Wasabi Green Spinach dip

I have to admit my girls were a little hesitant about

Hiro Green Brain Juice

, I mean I know some kids are accustomed to drinking those green health shakes, but mine are not. This one I picked up from the refrigerated section at

, and it is all fruits and it tasted delicious. Hiro is a literal kid genius, so I thought, I'd give my girls some brain juice.

Check out our popcorn bowls! I picked these up from the dollar section at

, two bowls for $1 and then I just put my permanent marker to work to create Baymax's signature face. My girls loved loved loved their bowls! My littlest one even talked to her bowl as Baymax during the movie.

Okay, so you know I always have parties on the mind and I started to think about all of the Big Hero 6 parties coming up in this year. I have the best idea for a party favor for a Big Hero 6 Movie Night viewing party or birthday party.

Baymax: Your personal healthcare companion.

I bought these first aid kits from the dollar section at

and decorated them with a printable you can find

and then I opened them up and added the signature Baymax face to the inside cover.

So tell me, are you having a Big Hero 6 viewing party or birthday soon?

Creating Our Own Fun with the Best Toys #TargetToys

This shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone, I seriously love #TargetToys.

Target is my happy place. There, I've said it. You can find me at my Target 2-3 times a week, with a smile on my face. And just like most other moms, I try my hardest to avoid the toy section just to avoid the inevitable fight and mom guilt. Thankfully, Target has the best toys to help your kids use their imagination and create their own toys, both in store and online. You can visit the Target Toy Emporium (available online) for some great brands that are designed to specifically help children explore, discover, be active, imagine, create and build. These are the most fun parts of childhood.

Check out what we bought at Target, created and played with at home.
We bought these fun Racing Wind Cars from Kiwi Crate to build and race at home and had a blast doing it. You know what I love about these type of toys? I love how proud my girls look when they've completed something on their own (with a little help from their mama of course).
This kit from Kiwi Crate was perfect because it included enough supplies to make two. When you have two little ones, very close in age, this is very important. The age range on this activity is between 4-8 years old, but I had fun racing them too.
My oldest daughter was very excited to get started on this activity. I seriously have created a monster, a crafting monster. All this little one wants to do is make things, just like her mama. She doesn't just see a blank piece of paper, she sees a future paper airplane.
You can check out the video tutorial I created for a step by step on how we created our fun wind cars, but for now, here are just a few peeks at all the fun we had. My littlest was STOKED when she realized decorating with stickers was the first step.
I love to see the smile on their faces when they feel a sense of accomplishment. She was so proud seeing her car come together before her eyes and with her own hands. Creativity is something that should always be nurtured, especially in a day and age when art is put on the back burner. The crafts and toys found in Target's Toy Emporium (available online) do just that.
As basic as the materials are in this kit, it makes for a fun and interesting afternoon not spent in front of the TV. This would make a great indoor or rainy day activity to have on hand or stock up on. Don't forget to take advantage of all the savings that Target has to offer with the Red Card and the Cartwheel app.

Make sure to check out our tutorial on Instagram below.
So fun right? Just another reason to love Target and their online Toy Emporium
