Dickey's Barbecue Pit-- All You Can Eat Now Through October 28!

There’s something about Fall and the start of Football season that makes me crave ribs. During the Summer I might be in the mood to make them myself, but once the weather starts cooling down and the sun sets a little earlier, I kinda want someone else to make them for me. It just so happens to be perfect timing because starting October 1st through October 28, you can get all you can eat ribs for $19.99 at Dickey's Barbecue Pit.

Summer Nights at the Hollywood Bowl

Summer Nights at the Hollywood Bowl

Visiting the Hollywood Bowl during the Summer concert series is one of those things you kind of have to experience. Last year was my first visit to the Hollywood Bowl and I could not wait to come back this Summer. To make it an even more amazing experience, we attended the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™ - in Concert featuring conductor Justin Freer and the incredible Los Angeles Philharmonic. If you are a Harry Potter fan, this is something you need to check out next Summer. Hearing Patrick Doyle’s unforgettable score live-to-picture is... magical.

SoCal Family Week of Fun!

SoCal Family Week of Fun!

Oh man oh man, I am still recovering from our week of fun. Why didn't anyone warn me that filling our week with so much fun would be so exhausting? Haha. As tiring as it was, it was completely worth it. We spent the week touring our beloved Southern California. We went from Santa Monica, to Hollywood, to Long Beach, all the way down to Carlsbad... and back! Luckily for us we were traveling in both style and luxury in the 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir

Pumpkin Patch Fun at Irvine Park Railroad

Pumpkin Patch Fun at Irvine Park Railroad

One thing that East Los Angeles lacks is Pumpkin Patches! I didn't even know that Pumpkin Patches were a thing until I ventured out of my little bubble and saw this giant carnival disguised as a pumpkin patch.  I thought everyone bought their pumpkins at the market while doing their weekly grocery shopping. But now I love visiting pumpkin patches as a Fall family must do activity. Irvine Park Railroad is one of the best, most fun Pumpkin Patches you will find in Southern California.

As much as we love our beloved Knott's Berry Farm, this was our first time at Soak City- and we loved it! #KnottsSoakCity

Greetings from Springfield-- Now Open at Universal Studios Hollywood!

Disclaimer: I was provided tickets for my family and I to attend Universal Studios to check out all of their latest attractions. As always, all opinions are my own.

If you live in or visit California this Summer, add Universal Studios Hollywood to your list of places to visit. Universal Studios is celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year with a few new attractions that are definite must sees! Today I want to share a peek at “Springfield,” an-all new immersive experience surrounding the super fun “The Simpsons Ride.”

Are you a Simpson's fan? Then you are going to love walking into "Springfield," hometown of America’s favorite family, The Simpsons. Even if you are not as familiar with the show, like my girls who are a little too young to understand the humor, you will still enjoy entering a bright, silly town filled with fun characters. “Springfield” is designed to capture the spirit of the animated town and engage visitors and fans of the show in the intensely absorbing and colorful world made famous throughout the series’ record-setting 26 seasons.

Guests visiting “Springfield” will have the pleasant sensation of being hurled through their television sets and into the accurately depicted town, complete with signature eateries such as BumbleBee Man's Taco Truck, Krusty Burger, Cletus’ Chicken Shack, Luigi’s Pizza and Phineas Q. Butterfat’s Ice Cream Parlor, along with Homer’s favorite hangouts, Lard Lad Donuts, Moe’s Tavern and Duff Brewery.

If you are hungry, then Springfield has a lot of delicious options for you to choose from. I just had to try the Krusty Burger and it was delicious. It was actually just what I needed to satisfy my hunger from walking around all morning, a fresh and delicious charbroiled cheeseburger and fries definitely hit the spot.

Walking around "Springfield" you are welcomed by all of the characters that you have grown to know and love over the past 26 seasons that they've lived in your television. Say hello and take pictures with Springfield's finest, Chief Wiggum.

Make sure to pick up one of Homer's favorite treats from Lard Lad Donuts. This giant pink donut covered in sprinkles is delicious. The most fun part of Sprinfield is going on the Simpsons ride at Krustyland. The whole experience builds a lot of excitement and the ride is AMAZING! It was almost too intense for me, almost. It definitely made my palms sweaty and I promise, you will LOVE it!

Taking pictures with the characters is half the fun for my kids. If you notice Homer was being particularly rambunctious on this day and was determined to look inside my daughters bag, which of course was holding our donut from Lard Lad Donuts. He even covered my daughters face during the picture, Lisa on the other hand was as sweet as could be.

Of course, I needed a photo of my girls with Millhouse. Classic! Check out Universal Studios on FacebookTwitter and Instagram for updates and come back in a few days when I share more about our fun day at Universal Studios including the new “Fast! & Furious!—Supercharged” and the “Nighttime Studio Tour.”

Tell me: Have you ever been to Universal Studios? What is your favorite attraction?

Making Memories at the Knott's Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival

Disclosure: My family and I were invited by GigaSavvy to a media day at Knott's Berry Farm just so I can share with you all the awesomeness they have going on. All opinions are 100% mine.
The highly anticipated Knott's Berry Farm's Boysenberry Festival has officially kicked off and my family and I were fortunate enough to be there for opening day ceremonies. We love spending time together and making memories, isn't that what life is all about anyway? I will always treasure my time spent at Knott's as a kid and I am just so glad to be able to do the same with my girls. The Boysenberry Festival is a special time at Knott's Berry Farm and only runs through April 12th, if not for the food alone, you need to visit soon! Keep reading for some of the fun you and your family can look forward to.
During opening ceremonies, we were lucky enough to watch as the world renowned competitive eater Joey Chestnut gobbled down 14 pounds of Boysenberry Pie to become the first ever Knott's Boysenberry Festival World Pie-Eating Champion. I have to admit I was equally impressed and grossed out while watching the eaters messily eat the Boysenberry Pie.
That Boysenberry Pie trophy was definitely earned and well deserved. All of the participating eaters were such a mess while congratulating each other on a job well done.
Ghost Town is a classic part of Knott's Berry Farm and is the main stage for most of the Boysenberry Festival festivities.
Every guest that visits Knott's has posed behind these bars while entering Ghost Town. This was actually our first time and I think these pictures need to be framed. Can you tell who the feisty one is? Haha.
Last week while attending the media preview I told you about some of the delicious foods that you and your family can find during the Boysenberry Festival. The one thing on the list that I didn't get a chance to try during the preview was the Fried Alligator with Boysenberry Aioli, of course it was the first thing my family and I had to try. Now that I've tried it, let me just tell you, it is DELICIOUS! Everyone says it tastes just like chicken, and I agree, but to me, the taste and texture is kind of a cross between chicken and fried calimari. I was so proud of my little for trying it, she keeps telling everyone, "Crocodile tastes like chicken!"
Another family favorite is the churro, I can pretty much get my husband to go with me anywhere as I long as I promise that there is a churro in his future. This time we tried the Boysenberry stuffed churro and I must admit, the Churro factory in Ghost Town has the hands-down best churros in town.
If you get out to Knott's Berry Farm's Boysenberry Festival, make sure to purchase the tasting card for the best deal. With the tasting card, you can try 6 specialty foods for $25 and all portions are definitely shareable for the family. I could talk about the food from the Boysenberry festival all day, my favorite savory options are: the Spicy Boysenberry BBQ Wings, Fried Alligator, Fish and Chips sandwich and the Fried Cheese curds and my favorite dessert items are: the Fun Bun, Boysenberry stuffed Churro and the Boysenberry Dessert Flautas.
A video posted by Cynthia Duarte (@kindasillymommy) on

I think I have the food at the Boysenberry Festival to blame for my daughter turning into a mini food vlogger. She has been watching youtube lately and wanted to introduce herself on my instagram while trying the Boysenberry BBQ wings for the first time.
Knott's Berry Farm is family friendly and such a great value for all the fun memories you can make with your family. From the rides for both little and big kids, the shows for the whole family, and the delicious home style cooking, we love making our memories here. We can't wait to check out the new Voyage to the Iron Reef opening in May and with the warm So Cal Summer coming up, my girls are looking forward to checking out Knott's Soak City for the first time.

Yum! Chronic Tacos Review and Giveaway!

I am a member of the Niche Parent Network. This post has been compensated with payment or product. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Who doesn't love tacos? Chronic Tacos is known for their delicious made-to-order fresh Mexican food with a fun environment perfect for a fun date night or a family dinner. Keep reading for more details about Chronic Tacos and a giveaway.
This location in Corona, CA is one of my favorite places for fresh Mexican food. As someone who grew up eating Mexican food and cooks pretty damn good fresh Mexican food (if I do say so myself), it can be hard for me to really enjoy Mexican food from a restaurant.
Here's a bit of Chronic Tacos back story:  It all started with a craving for tacos in 2002 in Newport Beach, CA by friends Randall L. Wyner and Daniel A. Biello. Those must have been some powerful cravings because more than 10 years later, Chronic Tacos has over 30 locations spread throughout California, Nevada and Canada.
 How about take-out?
Being a busy Mom out and about, I decided to pick up lunch and bring it home to enjoy. Check out my two chicken taco plate with Spanish rice and frijoles. Mmm, they are so meaty and to top it off with salsa fresca, onions, cilantro and cheese. Perfect portions for lunch!
Please do me a favor, and promise to never leave without an order of fresh chips, quacamole and salsa. There is nothing better than fresh tortilla chips!
Chronic Tacos locations have a great atmosphere to hang out and chill, or have an "I'm not cooking dinner tonight night." I mean you know how well beer goes with Tacos right?
Chronic Tacos offers so much more than just their delicious tacos! It's almost wrong to call it a salad, because it's so much more, but their Chronic Salads look delicious. They also offer flautas, burritos, taquitos, Chronic fries and Chimichangas all with your choice of protein from pollo asado, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas,  fish, shrimp and veggie.
The kids menu at Chronic Tacos offers your choice of a Bean & Cheese burrito, cheese quesadilla, two taquitos, or cheese nachos with chips, salsa, and a drink all for under $5. That's a great deal!
Make sure to like and follow #ChronicTacos on FacebookTwitter and Instagram for deals, updates and fun photos.Go check out Chronic Tacos to find a location near you and now are you ready for the giveaway?
Lucky you! I'm giving away a Chronic Tacos gift basket (valued at $55) to one lucky reader. I'm gonna make it easy for you, here's what you got to do:

Our 1st Trip to Universal Studios #MinionRide

It had been about 20 years since I last went to Universal Studios with my elementary school, so I had no idea what to expect. All I remembered was Jaws, King Kong, and the ET ride, boy has it changed. For me, there were two things we

had

to do on our visit, meet a Transformer and of course go on the new Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride! My girls have been asking to go visit the Minions all Summer long and on this day, Lexie's 4th birthday, we did.

As soon as we walked through the gates, we headed straight to the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride. It was my girls first 3D experience and they loved  it! They were a little nervous as they waited because they could hear the screams from behind the door. But the characters from Despicable Me were making us laugh the whole time we waited in line, just think, fart gun.

The Minion Ride was so fun, in fact, it ended with a dance party. As we exited the ride, we were greeted with Super Silly Fun Land, just like in the movie! My girls ran straight for the playground and we hung out there for a bit before heading to the Silly Swirly Fun Ride and then on to the water play area.

My girls will always say yes to a water fun zone and the one in Super Silly Fun Land is lots of fun!

The minions are the best!

I am not a fan of roller coasters or rides, to be honest I was a little afraid of what the 3D rides were going to be like. But that's the awesome thing about

Universal Studios

there is so much more to do than just standing in line for a 10 second ride. Their 3D rides are like a movie and an experience. My girls are still a little too little to get on some of the rides, but we had so much fun tracking down our favorite characters, meeting them and taking pictures. As you can see, I found Bumble Bee!

Make sure to check them out on

Facebook

,

Twitter

, and

Instagram

and if you buy your tickets

online

, you can save $5 per ticket. Oh and another tip, when you are at Universal Studios, go to the mobile site on your phone and you can get wait times and arrival times for your favorite characters as well as all the info you need on height requirements for the rides and a map.

Have you been to Universal Studios lately? It's a super fun place to spend a day with the family in Southern California.
