The Angry Birds Movie is Full of Fun and Crashing into Theaters May 20th!

Last Saturday my girls and I were invited to hang out on the red carpet at The Angry Birds Movie Premier. A few months ago I got a sneak peek at a few scenes and laughed my head off while listening to the cast talk about the new movie. I could not wait to see the movie in it's entirety, I knew my whole family would love it! And they did. My favorite part of watching a movie with my kids, is hearing them laugh and scream during a movie. It's like all of a sudden they're real people and not babies. We're finally at a point where we can watch a movie together.

About the Movie

The Angry Birds Movie is a 3D animated comedy that many people are anxiously awaiting. We'll finally find out why the birds are so angry.
The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds - or almost entirely.  In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride) have always been outsiders.  But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it's up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.

Say HELLO to the cast of The Angry Birds Movie

From left to right, Keegan-Michael Key, Producer John Cohen, Billy Eichner, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Josh Gad, Blake Shelton, Maya Rudolph, John Heder and Jason Sudeikis. Casting is superb! Everyone brings their character to life in such a fun way and if you're a fan of the game, it's even more fun to see the characters you already know. Personally, my favorites are Chuck and Red.

Red Carpet Fun

My girls, okay me too, had so much fun getting to hold and pet all these different exotic birds and even a little piggy. They were not angry at all, they were very friendly. Also, as part of the excitement of being on the red carpet, we had to dodge flying birds while a life size Angry Birds game was going on.  SO, there was an even more amazing AFTER PARTY that we were invited to and it was a street carnival full of fun and games. Unfortunately, my phone decided to flip out on me and I didn't get to capture any of that fun. But, it was so much fun. We got to hang out with the stars of the movie while all the kids jumped in the ball pit, colored on a wall sized Angry Birds coloring sheet, and ate all the food and sweets they could have asked for.

The animals were brought to the red carpet from Reptacular Animals.

Today's red carpet event for the #AngryBirdsMovie has me ducking flying birds!

The Angry Birds Movie Crashing into Theaters May 20th!

Are you one of the over 3 BILLION who has Angry Birds on your phone or tablet?

I will admit that I have never played Angry Birds. I know I'm not the only one, but now that I know that Angry Birds is the most downloaded game, I kinda feel left out. My husband and daughters are fans of the game and I was so excited to tell them all I learned about the new movie. On a recent visit to the Sony Studios, I not only got a first look at parts of the movie, I also got to sit in on a Q & A with some members of the cast.

Since the games release in 2009, there have been characters added and themes implemented and according to Josh Gad, the voice of Chuck, he has been a fan since the Star Wars version was released. I wish I had more to share with you from the Q & A with the cast, but honestly, after everyone sang Happy Birthday to Josh, we all just laughed as these guys went back and forth joking with each other. I don't think I've ever laughed so much at a work event before.

The Angry Birds Movie stars the voice talents of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride and Bill Hader (not pictured in order). Honestly, I was concerned about whether I needed to know the game, to understand the movie and I'm happy to report that you don't. The writers, producers, directors and actors all did an incredible job at bringing a little game about flinging birds and knocking down pigs to the big screen. The characters that they developed have fun personalities and the world they created is fun to get lost in.

The story surrounds an island of flightless birds who, although mostly happy, have a few Angry Birds in the bunch. Those Angry Birds, or birds with anger management issues, Red, Chuck and Bomb end up having to put their anger to good use when it comes time to defend their island against the group of intruding bad piggies.

Check out the trailer below and then mark your calendars, because May 20th will be here soon!
