The BoxTrolls Costume and Lamp {Tutorial} #TheBoxTrollsCC

We've just been obsessing over here about the upcoming release of the new film

The BoxTrolls.

The movie opens everywhere on September 26 and we will be seeing it for the first time in its entirety tomorrow! Knowing my girls, I just knew I would have to make them their very own BoxTroll costume. Keep reading for my easy how-to instructions.

There really isn't much to a BoxTroll costume. You can definitely make it with items you can find at your house, which is my favorite part of any project. This is what I used:

-Large Cardboard Box

-Scissors or Razor blade

-Box tape

-Markers

I didn't end up using the hot glue gun, but it can definitely be used for reinforcement.

Drawing and cutting was all I had to do. I drew a circle for the head and circles for the arms and then cut away! Once I cut, I taped the sides of the box to reinforce the structure. All that was left to do after that was decorate. I decided to personalize their BoxTroll costume with their favorite food and drink. My oldest loves pizza and my youngest loves her milk.

And here they are silly faces and all! Meet my BoxTrolls, Pizza and Milk! Don't forget to check out this

 when you're done.

If you are a DIY'er and love fun projects, I'm sharing one more with you.

You have got to see this cool BoxTroll inspired project. The video made by Liz from Crafting Geek is amazing! I had no idea how simple building a lamp could be, but now I am dying to make one. Seriously, next time I'm at The Home Depot, I am going to pick up all the pieces and try it.

Check it out!

What is The Boxtrolls about?
A family event movie from the creators of “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” that introduces audiences to a new breed of family – The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who have lovingly raised an orphaned human boy named Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in the amazing cavernous home they’ve built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley), comes up with a plot to get rid of the Boxtrolls, Eggs decides to venture above ground, “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with fabulously feisty Winnie (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save Eggs’ family.

Family Fun day with #TheBoxTrolls

You will always remember the first movie that your baby sits through. For me, the first movie my daughter sat through at 2 years old was Coraline. At first, I thought "What is this creepy movie?" then I sat through it again, and LOVED it. From the creators of Coraline, we are very excited and can't wait to see their next creation, The BoxTrolls.

My family and I were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at about 20 minutes of footage of the film out on September 26, 2014 and now, we can't wait to see the whole thing.
The next time you are at the theater, look for The BoxTroll mirror. We had so much fun watching the different characters mirror our movements.
Check out this interactive card. Exciting right? Ugh, these BoxTrolls are so fun.
Ah, we were so lucky to get to meet these guys at Universal Studios! Can't wait til September 26? Like The BoxTrolls on Facebook, follow them on Twitter and Instagram for fun updates and pictures of these silly guys.

A New Film from the Creators of Coraline: #TheBoxtrolls

Do you remember the first movie that your child sat through?
When my daughter was almost two years old, she sat on the couch and watched Coraline from start to finish. She loved Coraline and we are so excited that the creators of Coraline and ParaNorman are coming out with a new film, The BoxTrolls!
Synopsis:

A film event for the whole family from the creators of "Coraline" and "ParaNorman", which introduces audiences to a new kind of family:
The Boxtrolls, a community of bizarre creatures and sleepers who have raised a child with love, human orphan called Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in the amazing cavernous house they have built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the villain of the people, Archibald Snatcher (winner of the Academy Award Ben Kingsley), proposes a plan to eliminate the Boxtrolls, Eggs decide to venture to the surface, "to find the light," and there he meets and befriends Winnie the fabulously energetic (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save the family of Eggs.

My girls and I are so excited to see it! We can not wait until 9/26/14!
