Good times at the #ElChavoYLeche Event- Enter to Win!

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with CA Milk and Latina Bloggers Connect.

I love when I'm heading to the grocery store and there is something fun going on outside. I mean, I think it's kinda the best place for an event because there is always people going in and out and the kids love it. If it makes shopping with kids any easier, I'm all for it. Recently, we visited Vallarta Supermarket in Sylmar and got to see all the El Chavo y Toma Leche fun! Because what goes better with a torta de jamon, than a tall glass of leche. My girls didn't know who El Chavo was, so I had to google him for them so they would have a better understanding. Actually, I only knew a little bit about him myself, so it was kinda cool to finally know a bit more.

Beginning August 15 through September 11, toma leche and El Chavo are giving you the opportunity to win a book bag full of back-to-school goodies – plus a $200 gift card! All you have to do is visit your local supermarket, take a picture in El Chavo’s barrel sampling his famous ham sandwich with milk and submit your picture using #ElChavoyLeche. Easy right? You can find a participating store by visiting tomaleche.com.
The #ElChavoYTomaLeche event was a lot of fun and there were so many people there to celebrate. It's always nice when something familiar brings people together, both old and young. El Chavo really crosses so many generations from the old shows to the animated characters now. Find a location near you and sample a torta de jamon and leche.

Leche is such an important part of growing up. When I was little I had milk every night for dinner and as I got older, my taste for milk kinda got away from me. I always told myself I would try my best to get my daughters to be milk drinkers. I just think as growing girls, drinking milk gives them vitamins that they might otherwise lack.

Don't forget, you can win a backpack full of surprises plus a $200 gift card! Now through September 11th, take a picture at one of Toma Leche’s events by submitting it using the hashtag #ElChavoYLeche! Find a store near you by visiting El Chavo Y Leche. For more on El Chavo go to www.tomaleche.com.

Always Have Space for Dreams with #CRVSueños

This is sponsored post in collaboration with Honda and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

So much of our family time is spent in the car. We are always on the go, running errands around town or on the hunt for new adventures. Most of the time we spend in our car involves us singing but now I have started to appreciate that our family time in the car has become a chance for my girls to "unplug" and use that time to let their imaginations run wild.
While riding in the car, my girls like to watch as the clouds take different forms, keep an eye out for airplanes, and watch as the city passes us by. Right now is such an exciting time to be a young girl. Our world is encouraging young girls everywhere to not only chase their dreams, but to also embrace and conquer the field of science. In the newest commercial for the 2015 Honda CR-V, Space for Dreams, we are reminded that so much goes on when you are a kid in the backseat. Every where you go is a new adventure and every time you jump into the backseat, you are preparing yourself for whatever may come your way.
Recently I visited our local Honda dealer and was able to check out the new 2015 Honda CR-V.  I am working so hard right now to put myself in a position to purchase a new family car, and the Honda CR-V is on the top of my list. I love all of the new features like the push button start and rear view camera and I especially love all of the space my girls would have in the backseat. Because to keep it real, keeping them separate during car rides is just better for all parties involved and by that I mean, less bickering and more space to dream
If you haven't already, check out the video above and let me know what you think in the comments below.  I'd love to know how the commercial made you feel.

Come Meet Vi and Va and Familia! #ViandVa (+Giveaway)

This is sponsored post in collaboration with Vi and Va Dolls and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
My daughters can play with dolls all day long, they instantly become best friends and an exciting part of their world. Say hello to my daughters newest friends, sisters Vi and Va and their cousins Roxxi and Felicia.
This family of dolls is special and they've already become a part of our lives. Older sister Vi or Viviana (far right) is 16 years old and loves music, she is spontaneous and always ready to play the guitar and sing at family gatherings. Younger sister Va or Valentina (second from the left) is 15 years old and loves to bake up goodies, especially the recipes that have been handed down from her Mama and Abuelita. Felicia (far left) is the 18 year old cousin of Vi and Va and is an artist who loves to paint. Roxxi (second from the right) is 17 years old and loves to dance.
Let me tell you a little bit about the new line of dolls that you can find exclusively at Target. These dolls are different than most dolls you will see in the store, these dolls are Latina. They have darker complexions, darker hair and eyes and have a much different body type. The bodies on these dolls are much curvier and a little thicker than the average doll, much like Latina's in real life. I just absolutely love that my daughters are able to relate to these dolls with their darker skin and hair, but I was really pleased that they also included a green eyed blonde haired doll too, because Latina's can be guera too, just like me.
I love the stories that these dolls come with. When I showed my daughters the dolls, I introduced them by reading their individual stories on the outside of their box. Although I know their imaginations will take them to new places and on crazy adventures, I wanted them to really "meet" them first. The fun part was that my girls chose their dolls based on their common interests. My oldest daughter likes to cook and dance like Va and Roxxi and my younger daughter likes to play music, sing and paint just like Vi and Felicia.
The Vi and Va line of dolls helps encourage young Latina's to embrace their culture and be proud of their heritage and bodies just like the dolls. Vi and Va also encourages the importance of family. These dolls are not just friends, they are related, they are best-friends and family. How great is that? I just love it! Also, when you are shopping for these dolls at Target, keep an eye out for the line of doll fashion and quinceanera dresses, they are beautiful!
The full assortment of "Vi and Va" fashion dolls is available at Target stores and on Target.com. For more information, please visit the Vi and Va Dolls site  and get social with them on Facebook and Twitter. How would you like to win one or two? I am giving away one set of Vi and Va Birthday Celebration Doll set to one lucky reader! Go ahead and enter below and tell me which doll do you think your daughter would relate to in the comment section below.

Exploring the Big Wide World Around Us! #PeepEnEspanol

Exploring the Big Wide World Around Us! #PeepEnEspanol

One of my favorite parts of being a Mom to two little girls, is also being their first teacher. I have taken my role very seriously from the start. I would count and say the alphabet in English, Spanish, French and ASL to my girls when they were newborns and was the mom doing flashcards with my 9 month old. I don't know how much of that actually helped them get to where they are now, but I do know that I enjoy teaching them new things. #PeepEnEspanol

Tylenol Wants to See You #SmilingItForward

I have received information about the TYLENOL® SMILING IT FORWARD™ program from McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., the makers of TYLENOL®. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post for Latina Bloggers Connect.
The hardest part of being a mama is when your babies are sick or sicky, as we say in this house. But one of the best things that a mama can experience is the smile that your baby gives you when they start to feel better. The way you take care of your babies, usually comes from the way that your mother took care of you, and her mother took care of her. As an adult, I'm not ashamed to say I wish my Mom would still take care of me when I get sick, because there really is nothing better than a Mom's care.
Recently, I was invited to a luncheon at the Bouchon Bistro in Beverly Hills to hear Dra. Aliza A. Lifshitz M.D speak about what we, as mamas can do to help prevent our children from getting sick and what we can do to help them feel better.
I was joined by not only fellow Moms, but fellow Latina Blogger Moms like myself. It was an afternoon of delicious food and great company as we discussed our tips and tricks for helping our babies feel better.
Just in time for cold and flu season, Dra. Aliza shared some of the best tips for preventing your littles from getting sick:
  • Wash your hands! Not just rinse, but make sure the kids wash their hands with soap to keep the germs away.
  • When soap and water are unavailable, use hand sanitizer. Throw it in the backpack or lunch bag for the kids.
  • Eat a balanced meal. You can maintain your immunity by eating healthy amounts of veggies and protein.
  • When a fever hits over 101 degrees, it's time to take your child to see the doctor.
Tylenol has been a part of motherhood for nearly 60 years. From the scary first fever, to the teething, and the horrible ear infections, Tylenol is what brings comfort to our babies. In 2013, Tylenol started the Smiling It Forward program to help bring children in need the healthcare they deserve.
Tylenol began to recognize that moms like to post cute photos of their child’s adorable smiles, including the “feel better” smile that moms can't wait to see.  Those "feel better" photos are what inspired the team at Tylenol to create the Smiling It Forward program. By sharing a photo that makes you smile at SmilingItForward.com, Tylenol will make a $1 donation* to Children’s Health Fund.
The Children’s Health Fund is a national leader on healthcare for vulnerable children and has a fleet of 50 mobile medical clinics serving hundreds of locations across the country, including schools, community shelters and homeless shelters so that every child in need has a chance to be healthy and ready to learn.

For more information in Espanol, head on over here.

*Between June 23, 2014 and November 30, 2014, McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., the makers of TYLENOL® is inviting anyone 18 and older to upload a “smile” photo on the TYLENOL® Facebook page. Each approved “smile” will trigger a $1 donation from TYLENOL® to Children’s Health Fund, with a minimum donation of $75,000 and a maximum donation of $100,000. My Blogging Journey #WeAllGrow

When I first began blogging, I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't really know what blogging was or what it could be. What I did know was that I always loved to write and I had some really awesome photos of the parties I threw for my kids. I thought to myself why not share them on a blog. At the time I was a stay at home mom, completely infatuated with my daughters, still grieving my son and was starting to feel like I needed an outlet, or something to challenge me intellectually. So I started to blog. However, all my blog consisted of was a few dozen pictures with minimal descriptions. I didn't have any readers, besides my mother in law, and I didn't really know there was more to it than that.

Then one Saturday morning, my husband says, "Hey, have you heard of Pinterest?" Nope. I had no idea. He said, "Someone just mentioned you have to sign up to be invited to use it, I'm going to sign you up." So he did, and a few days later, I fell in love. I spent my nights scrolling for a few months before I realized, "Hey, why don't I pin my party pictures?" So I did. I didn't think much of it, until someone asked me what my numbers were for my blog, I checked and my numbers had gone from single digits to triple digits in a month. Now, again, I had no idea where to go from here. I heard that people can make money from their blogs. But I thought that was only from the ugly ads that I hated to see on others blogs.

So, I searched. I searched for a community. I searched for a list of "Southern California Women Bloggers" and hoped to find some people to interact with. This is how I found the SoCal Lady Bloggers on Facebook and asked to join. At first, I just stood back and read what others had to say, then chimed in a bit, asking questions and getting some feedback. One day a fellow SCLB'er Xenia of Raised by Culture tweeted me and told me I should go to this workshop she was hosting with some of her friends. She was right, this was exactly what I needed. The #CraftofBlogging workshop was hosted by Xenia, Denise of PearMama and Ruby of GubLife: GrowingUpBlackxican, all fellow Latina Bloggers. These women crammed so much invaluable information into 5 hours and I learned so much, my head was spinning.

The most valuable advice that I heard that day was to find my voice and audience and figure out what I wanted to say. As I watched these fabulous women speak so proudly of their accomplishments and heritage, I knew that I wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to celebrate my heritage. That day I decided to apply to some blogger networks that work directly with Latinas.
I am a Latina. I have light eyes, light hair, light skin, and don't speak enough Spanish. But I am a Latina. That is my blood, my culture, my community, my family and my history. Because I grew up and live in a predominantly Mexican American city, I didn't know I had to identify myself as a Latina, I just was.

I am proud to say that I have found something that I love to do. I have been able to combine my love for writing and taking pictures, products we love and spending time with my girls. I have been working with these networks for about a year now and although it is small, I am now contributing to our income. Back in February, my world opened up again when I was lucky enough to win a ticket (thanks to LatinaMom.Me) to a conference, my first conference, Bloggy Boot Camp-Women Get Social, San Diego. Again I felt the push I needed to embrace and celebrate my heritage. My next steps are going to be big ones, I am hoping to attend the #WeAllGrow Summit in Los Angeles to learn more from my fellow Latina bloggers. There is so much more that I want to learn and accomplish and achieve and although I am a little scared, I am ready. I want to do and see more and share that with my family. I am ready for the next steps, whatever they may be.

Our Favorite Summer Hairstyle with Johnson's #NoMoreTangles

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® and Latina Bloggers Connect, but all photos and opinions are always my own.

With two wild and crazy girls, Summer has been so busy, but ton's of fun! Our Summer arrived early, it seems that we've been swimming and splashing around in the pool since May. Being a Mom means making sure they are always protected and safe. I protect their skin with SPF and moisturizer and to protect their hair we use Johnson's No More Tangles.
My secret to their beautiful hair is our love for Johnson's No More Tangles 3 step regimen. We use it every day and luckily we do, because, wet hair is more susceptible to damage than dry hair. So, while we are in and out of the water all Summer long, Johnson's No More Tangles, helps to keep their hair nourished, beautiful and healthy-looking.
What is your daughter's favorite Summer hairstyle? My youngest daughter is in love with the side braid. Thanks to a certain very cold Disney princess, this is our every day hairstyle for my littlest. I wish I was a master french braid do-er, but I'm not, thankfully, my daughter isn't very particular.
Here are the steps to an easy and super cute braid.
Step 1. Wash hair with Johnson's Baby Shampoo and Conditioner (we use the blue bottle for thick/curly hair).
Step 2. Apply Johnson's No More Tangles leave in-conditioner before combing out.
Step 3. Spray Johnson's No More Tangles Detangling Spray and comb all to one side.
Step 4. Grab a section from the combed side of the head and separate into 3 sections and start the braid: Right section over middle section, left section over middle section.
Step 5. Each time you finish one part, grab a new section from the rest of the hair and add it to the braid.
Step 6. Continue the braid by pulling pieces from the back of the head and try to keep it as tight as possible and that's it! Super easy and princess worthy!
The detangling spray is the best, it helps keep the hair manageable and easy to work with.
Do you recognize the braid? It's not just any old side braid, it starts in the back and holds all of her hair out of her face and off of her back. Perfect for the Summer heat!
That's my little happy girl, can't you tell this hairstyle makes her happy? This braid is our go to Summer look.
See, today we spent the afternoon at the splash pad, and her hair was perfect. This is also the hairstyle that she rocked for her Frozen birthday party, so stay tuned for that fun post coming soon.

If you need more fun hairstyle ideas you can check out the Johnson's Youtube page and make sure to check out the one starring my little ladies

Treasuring Family Moments- After Bath Fun with Lubriderm #FamiliaLubriderm #LatinaBloggers

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with LUBRIDERM and Latina Bloggers Connect, however, all opinions and photos are my own.
The best part of being a Mom, (besides the moment you realize they are sleeping) is the quality family time that you can all spend together. I am a Stay At Home Mom, so I am there for everything, everyday. I don't miss much, which makes it even harder to really appreciate the little moments. So when I do get that quiet moment, after they've gone to sleep, I can look back at my day and laugh again at the crazy things they said or the funny things they did.

One way we like to enjoy our family time is at bath time. Now, I couldn't really share bathroom pictures, but let me set the scene. Picture two little girls playing with mermaid dolls while singing and splashing. Me, the mom, washing really long hair and trying my very best to not get soaked by the splashing. My husband, the daddy, playing guitar and singing Taylor Swift songs so the girls can sing along. This is the only time during the week that we can all spend time together. These are the moments that are special to us.

After bath time is just as crazy and special. My husband is still playing guitar, my girls are still singing, and I am brushing their long hair and moisturizing their skin before pajamas. My kids were blessed with very dry/sensitive skin. Even when they were really young, I couldn't use the normal baby lotion on them. I had to bring in the big guns. Lubriderm is one of the lotions that works really well on their skin.
I have always been very careful to not use lotions that contain any scents on their skin, because they have had bad reactions to a lot of lotions.
Until now. Our new favorite is the LUBRIDERM Daily Moisture Shea + Calming Lavender Jasmine Lotion.

    • Made with deep nourishing Shea butter and vitamin B5
    • Clinically shown to moisturize for 24 hours
    • Clean, non-greasy feel
    • Use daily to soothe and renew
After bath time can easily turn into chaos, as tired kids can be dreadful. As you can see, I try to make it fun for them. I "draw" happy faces on them with their lotion or make dots all over for them to massage into their own skin. These are the little things that I hope they remember their crazed Mom did for them.
Look at all of the options out there for every type of skin! I like to use the Calming Lavender Jasmine lotion at night and a different lotion for the day. I love Lubriderm's Daily Moisture Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 15. I am a Latina, but I am a light skinned easily burned Latina. I need SPF at all times while living in sunny Southern California.
Although I was not allowed to get a picture of my husband lotion-ing up. He and I love the Men's 3-in-1 lotion. I mentioned that my daughters have very dry and sensitive skin, and they can thank their Dad for that. My husband suffers from Eczema, so he needs products that contain Aloe and have a very light scent. If the scent is too strong, he will sneeze for the next 4 hours straight (I'm not kidding). The light fragrance smells so good. But there is also an option for Fragrance free.

The new LUBRIDERM® Men’s 3-in-1 line is designed to make taking care of skin fast and easy by addressing multiple skin needs in one bottle. LUBRIDERM® Men’s makes taking care of skin a breeze, by simplifying the grooming routine and leaving a man’s skin looking and feeling healthy and comfortable.
    • Triple action formula moisturizes, soothes and improves the look and feel of skin
    • Specially formulated with nutrients naturally found in men’s healthy skin (Vitamin E, minerals and essential moisturizers) and helps to replenish and moisturize dry skin
    • Aloe-enriched and clinically shown to reduce roughness after shaving
    • Light and fast-absorbing, leaves skin feeling non-greasy
    • Clean and fresh fragrance, with top notes of black pepper and lime, and base notes of sandalwood and musk
    • Hypoallergenic
Can you tell how much they love the scent of the Lavender Jasmine? They are not used to being able to have a scented lotion. I love to see their fresh, out of the bath, smiling faces. Thanks Lubriderm for the calming scent, they went straight to sleep after these pictures were taken. Have you tried any of these Lubriderm lotions? Which one would you like to try?
