Summer Fun at Universal Studios Hollywood

Every single time I am invited to Universal Studios I know that I am in for something new and a memorable day. This Summer there was so much fun stuff that I was looking forward to checking out and sharing with all of you. First and foremost, mostly due to the location, I jumped right in and visited the brand new DreamWorks Theater, which took the place of the Shrek 4D. TIP: When it's a hot day during the Summer and you need a little relief, this show is a fun way to cool down for a bit.

Right now you can find a ton of Kung Fu Panda fun all around the Universal Plaza, including a meet and greet with Mr. Ping at his noodles shop. Oh and back in January during the Lunar New Year celebrations I sampled some of the authentic Asian food from Mr. Ping's Noodle Shop, luckily for you, the noodle shop is still there and you can try some of the delicious Asian food and beverages.

As a Mom, one of my favorite parts of visiting Universal Studios is all of the fun characters that are available for pictures. These are the memories that your kids will look back and love. You can find so many different characters that even you know from your childhood. Take pictures with Monsters, Marilyn Monroe, Scooby Doo, Dora the Explorer, Branch and Poppy, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime and so many more. Right now you can find Tigress and Po at Universal Plaza.

Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle

Okay, okay where are my fellow Potterheads? If you have not had the chance to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter yet here at Universal Studios Hollywood, then I'm really sorry but you have not yet lived your best life. I know, that was super dramatic. But I have visited the Wizarding World numerous times and each time is a special experience for me, so if you are a Harry Potter fan, it's kind of like coming home.

This Summer, there is a brand new treat for everyone to try. We've tried Butterbeer, Hot Butterbeer and Iced Butterbeer and now you can try Butterbeer Ice Cream. It's pretty much as delicious as you are imagining it to be. Oh and I have to tell you about all of the other new exciting additions to the Wizarding World. There are new spells that your wands can perform, including the fire-making spell Incendio and the unlocking spell, Alohomora. There's also new menu items at Three Broomsticks as well as brand new high-end costume replicas available in both kid and adult sizes.

Oh and the Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle, this visit I introduced a brand new person to the lights and he loved it! It was so much fun hearing and seeing the reactions of someone who didn't know what to expect. That's how impressive the Nighttime Lights show is. I mean, Hogwarts is impressive all on it's own, but all lit up, with the music, the story, and the fireworks-- It's beautiful!

Jurrasic Park-- The Ride

I was really looking forward to getting on the Jurrasic Park-- the ride for my very first time. I'm such a chicken when it comes to rides but I had to go on it before it becomes extinct. Because in 2019, there will be a whole brand new ride, Jurrasic World!

I spotted this guy, Blue, entirely made out of Legos while walking through CityWalkLA on my way to Universal Studios.

Confront Blue

One of the most popular Velociraptors from Jurrasic World is available for photos right next to the Jurrasic Park-- the ride. This is a pretty unique experience, the handlers really make it seem like you're kind of in danger, while posing for photos with a velociraptor. The Raptor Encounter is fun, especially if your kids are Dino fans!

Super Silly Fun Land

Always a great idea. We love the Minion Ride and especially on a hot Summer's Day, you're gonna have a hard time getting your kids to leave the whole water play area, or just join them and spend time cooling down yourself.

Don't forget all of the fun meet and greets. We met Gru on this day, but in the past we've hung out with Minions and the Girls too.

The Silly Swirly is one of the only rides that my little one really loves, we like to go on again and again. Oh and there's a little playground area right there as well, yeah your kids aren't going to want to leave Super Silly Fun Land. Good luck with that.

Okay, so on this day, I went kid-free and had a day date. You know what that meant? I had a beer at the Irish Pub and checked out the Walking Dead maze. It was actually a lot less scary than I was hoping for. But you know what? It made me so excited for the upcoming Halloween season and hopefully check out Universal Horror Nights, I have heard that they have the best mazes and I'm finally ready for that kind of fun.
