Remember when life was simple and Storks still delivered babies. Well, now they're busy delivering packages for global internet giant Cornerstore. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable, unauthorized pink haired baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world.
We were lucky enough to be invited to an early screening and celebration of Storks. I'll be very honest with you, I didn't know much about the movie before screening it. I saw some early scenes and read the synopsis, but didn't know what to expect. I was in for such a surprise! I laughed throughout most of the movie and was even reminded of a very important lesson.
Get ready to fall in love with these new characters. Junior, voiced by Andy Samberg is brave and funny, Tulip, voiced by Katie Crown, is a strong female character that all little girls will love. Oh and that Pigeon dressed in a shirt and tie is the hilarious Pigeon Toady, voiced by Steven Kramer Glickman.
As you can see we were treated to some food and treats after the screening, it was such a fun evening.
And the baby, well the baby is just adorable. As a parent, when you watch the interaction with the baby, it will take you back to parenting an infant, which for me, is at least 5 years ago. The filmmakers did a great job with that. When asked about how the baby ended up with pink hair, Producer Brad Lewis said, "Early on when we were talking about baby hair colors, it's like if--we want the movie to lift the audience a little bit out of their seats. We don't want it ground in reality so much. We wanted to have a combination of natural haired characters and fun haired characters. Everybody just kind of went, "Oh, this is a crazy baby factory." It's like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. This is, you know, our baby factory. So, we want it to be wondrous."
This is the family that the movie begins with. They provide the lesson that I was talking about earlier in the post. Watching this family on the screen was just like watching, not only myself but so many other families nowadays. The movie starts with these parents that are so incredibly busy, working from home, and a son who wants nothing more than their attention. It's so easy to get caught up in our everyday stuff and it was a great reminder to stop and play with the kids, while they're still kids.
Chances are you don't know who Katie Crown is... yet. But get ready because she's a new young, funny voice who stands out as Tulip. Tulip is a strong female character for young ladies to look up to.
"Yes, I hope they like her. I think she's a really cool character. It's nice playing someone who's really fun, affable, but also super smart. She's an inventor... You know, she's got a lot of good ideas. It's really fun being able to play someone like that." -Katie Crown
