What's the best part about football season? The food of course! I suppose I also enjoy spending time together as a family too. Okay, so for me, the best part of football season is the food and the company. I am not a huge football fan, I don't have a real favorite team, but I do enjoy sitting and watching a game now and then. Mostly, I spend the majority of football Sunday in the kitchen cooking up some delicious food for the family. Today I am sharing my recipe for a delicious and messy BBQ chicken sandwich made with Foster Farms Fresh & Natural Chicken and my new favorite BBQ sauce, Stubb's.
It is so easy to get lost on the sauce aisle. There are so many options. I have to admit, I usually leave the sauce choice up to my husband, but this time I chose Stubb's marinade and sauce. While shopping at Albertson's keep an eye out for Instant Redeemable Coupon that can be found in-store for the chicken and BBQ sauce. I'm always looking for a good deal, this coupon doesn't expire until the end of this year.
The choice of chicken is an easy one to make. Foster Farms Fresh & Natural chicken is always the way to go. Foster Farms Fresh & Natural chicken is locally raised in California and always fresh, 100% Natural, and American Humane Certified, with no added hormones or steroids.
This is what you need to make the most delicious BBQ chicken sandwich.
- Foster Farms Fresh & Natural chicken Leg Quarters
- Stubb's Chicken marinade
- Stubb's Sticky Sweet Sauce
- Fried Onions
- Tomato slices
The instructions are easy, the way football Sunday food should be.
Step 1. Rinse the chicken leg quarters and place into a bowl. Empty the contents of Stubb's Chicken Marinade over the chicken and set aside. Place in refrigerator for at least an hour.
Step 2. Start up the grill and cook the chicken over medium-high heat until cooked through.
Step 3. Once the chicken is cooked and cooled, shred the meat off of the bone and into a bowl.
Step 4. Prepare your bread by spreading mayonnaise and piling the shredded chicken on top. Next, drizzle or pour Stubb's Sticky Sweet sauce over the chicken. *Use as much as you'd like.
Step 5. Add a handful of fried onions and a slice of tomato. Last, add the other slice of bread on top.
There are many choices when it comes to BBQ sauces, let me tell you a little bit about Stubb's Sauce. Stubb’s Bar-B-Q sauces, marinades and rubs are made with quality, gluten free ingredients and are certified Non GMO. Stubb’s never uses artificial preservatives, colors, sweetners, flavorings or MSG, giving your barbecue the authentic, Legendary Texas Flavor that Stubb was known for.
Stubb's Legendary Bar-B-Q started in Lubbock, Texas in 1968 when C.B. Stubblefield, "Stubb," opened his first restaurant. Stubb’s love for Bar-B-Q and desire to bring people together inspired our line of products. No fancy ingredients or anything overly sophisticated – just genuinely good products made with Stubb’s secret ingredients, “Love and Happiness”. I can get behind that!
Mmmm.. these pictures make my mouth water just thinking of all of the flavors. The chicken has tremendous flavor from Stubb's marinade, and then Stubb's Sticky Sweet sauce is perfect with the crunchiness from the fried onions. I must warn you, it is a messy sandwich, but the best BBQ sandwiches always are. I'm telling you right now, this is the perfect sandwich for a tailgate football Sunday.
