St. Patrick's Day Green Jello Dessert

There are some foods that are just classic. The kind of food that you know without fail will be at the family party. For me, this Green Jello Dessert is a Thanksgiving day classic, growing up, my grandma Aurora would make it each year. My children will grow up knowing the same Jello dessert, but now my Mom makes it each year. Of course, I had to mix it up and thought it would be the perfect dessert to share for St. Patrick's Day. 

I love simple recipes with the fewest ingredients possible. This recipe calls for:

1 box Green Lime JELLO

1 small can of Pineapple Chunks

1 small pack of Walnuts (chopped)

1 small container of Sour Cream

Directions:

1. Follow instructions on the box for making Jello, pour into baking dish and let sit in the refrigerator until almost set (1-2 hours). 

2. Mix all ingredients (pineapple chunks, walnuts and sour cream) into the un-set JELLO. 

3. Place back into the refrigerator for another hour or two or until it is more firm. 

Serve and enjoy!

Easy right? I thought this was a family recipe only known to us, but as I was making the dessert my husband told me his aunt made it all the time when he was a kid. We then started to talk about the fact that JELLO was a classic dessert and so many recipes were made with JELLO in the 60's and 70's. This dessert may have been on the 1968 box of JELLO and I wouldn't know, times like this I wish my grandma Aurora was around to ask her where she got the recipe. She would probably tell me she made it up herself anyway.
