Cooking with my Kids at Cook LA w/CravOn Fries and Chef Nikki Shaw

When I got an invite to attend a cooking class I was thrilled! I have never done anything like that before. Then I kept reading and found out my kids were invited as well, that made my day! My girls are still pretty young and besides the occasional help with mixing the cupcake batter, they aren't very involved in the kitchen. On this day, we headed out to Cook LA in Studio City, CA and thanks to CravOn! Never Fried French Fries we had a wonderful evening cooking with Celebrity Chef Nikki Shaw.
Everyone involved was so nice and a pleasure to work with. Our Chef for the evening, Chef Nikki was super personable and had a lot of good tips for mother's trying to cook healthy meals for their families. (Like swapping out red meat for turkey.)
Chef Nikki Shaw who you may know from Food Network’s The Next Food Network Star is also a featured chef for the American Heart Association, American Dietetic Association and a member of the celebrity advisory board of the National Childhood Obesity Foundation.
With the help of our lovely chef, my girls and I created an appetizer and an entree featuring the Never Fried CravOn French Fries.
My oldest was so excited when she was able to help put the fries in the preheated oven. The helpers from Cook LA were great with all of the children. (They host kids cooking parties at their super cool location. Check them out!)
This was the Pesto Dip recipe that we worked on together.
As you can see the amazing people at Cook LA had all of the fresh ingredients measured and ready for us to use.
My youngest helped to put all of the ingredients into the food processor and was so proud to hold up her bowl of Pesto dip.  That fresh Pesto dip was so delicious with the crunchy CravOn Fries. I was a little nervous to see if my daughters would go for the "green stuff" but since they helped make it, they dove right in.
So I think after this, my daughter may want to become a chef.  She loved every aspect of the evening. She helped to pour the olive oil in the pan, roll the ground turkey sausages into balls, browned the meatballs in the pan and mixed them up with the sauce. As you can see in the last picture, she even topped off her plate with a sprinkle of Parmesan.
We all had such a great time and my kids haven't stopped talking about CravOn fries!
Now let me tell you why they are an awesome healthy alternative: CravOn Fries are Never Fried French Fries, and because they are never fried, they have 50% less fat than other frozen french fries. CravOn Fries are brushed with olive oil and dusted with sea salt for a light flavor and cook up nice and golden and crispy. You can check out CravOn fries website to find a store near you that carries them and I suggest you follow them on Facebook because they like to share coupons on there.

This was such a memorable night for all of us. My daughter keeps asking if she can go back to Cook LA for her birthday, and we may just have to do that.

Disclosure: I was invited to this event which was sponsored by CravOn fries, but all opinions are my own. We really did have a great time cooking and eating their fries!
