A little Hump Day Sunshine!

I would like to thank God and all the little people out there for this award. Oh, I forgot to mention the award. I am a recent recipient of the "Sunshine award!" I had no idea what the Sunshine award was or that it even existed until the other day when I received a tweet from a fellow SCLB member, Jamie from Minnesota Girl in the World. (you really need to go check her out, because her blog is full of awesomeness! So,thank you Jamie!)

This award of course has stipulations, all the best ones do! And, here they are:

Answer the 10 questions about yourself! and finally...

Here are my answers... Check them out!
1) What’s something you wish you would have known when you started blogging?
I wish I had a clue what I was getting myself into. I started blogging about my parties that I created for my kids, wrote a few personal posts, then discovered pinterest and started pinning my parties. So, I guess I would say I wish I knew more about how to be seen and how to gain an audience. Because right now, my audience comes mostly from people checking out my parties.
2) What's for dinner tonight?
Well, tonight will be a night off from cooking for me! Yay! I cook 6 days a week for 6 people, so a night off is very exciting for me. Especially because tonight, I will be filling up on goodies from the L.A. County Fair Food Preview. Oh, yeah, bring on the fried... everything!
3) If you could relive a year in your life, what age would you go back to and why?
I would relive 2008, I was 23. Let me explain: In the latter part of 2007 I gave birth to my first born, my son. He passed away hours after he was born. It was a very difficult time for me. But, the biggest heartache of my life brought my husband and I closer together. We, (my husband, our dog Jessie, and I) got through the hard times together and spent a lot of time enjoying just us before we welcomed our daughter to the mix. It's kinda a crazy year to want to relive, because I spent all of it in mourning. But, for some reason that's the year that comes to mind.
4) Favorite Place to visit in your home state?
We don't travel much (YET!) But, we LOVE the beach. It's only a 20 minute drive, but it's special. My husband and I had one of our first dates at this spot in Malibu. It is also the same spot where we celebrated my son's life, and it is the place we take our kids now. It's special to us. We go all year long, and even at night.
5) Stealing from AJ: What is your social media/blogging pet peeve?
I am still pretty new to the social media stuff, I mean I am learning as I go, and I hope I'm not doing any of the things that others find annoying. But, I guess my pet peeve would have to be the "Direct Messages" on Twitter. I just don't even understand what all that BS is about?
6) If given the choice to go on a cruise, plane ride to a destination, or road trip, what would you choose and why?  All expense paid trip.
Would sedatives be available? I am big ass ball of anxiety, and although I would love to drive to the airport, get on a plane and take a cruise around Europe (Greece, Spain, Italy, and France). The probability of me doing that would totally depend on somebody tranquilizing me and waking me up when we get there. So, a bit more realistically would be a road trip. I would love to drive cross country and touch every state, including Alaska (I can drive to Alaska can't I?) and obviously not Hawaii. I love driving and listening to music and having conversations, I feel like that is what my husband and I are best at.
7) Share a favorite memory of yours.
I'll take it way back to my childhood. It's the early 90's and the sun is setting, Santana's Black Magic Woman is playing in the background, carne asada is grilling, and my entire family is here. It is my birthday. My birthday is in the Summer and the house I grew up in had a pool. I can smell the chlorine on the cement, and hear the pre-pubescent voices of my boy and girl cousins shouting, "Marco!" "Polo!" and "Fish out of Water!" It seems so long ago, that all the adults got a long, before any family members turned weird and before my cousins grew up to be strangers. (I think this will be an excerpt from my upcoming memoir: Growing up Huera in East LA.)
8) Is there a place you’ve always wanted to visit, but haven’t?
I've always wanted to see the ancient ruins of Greece and Rome, eat authentic Italian food and attend La Tomatina in Spain. One day.
9) Favorite candy?
My favorite candy would probably be Almond Roca. I am not a huge fan of chocolate, but just a little bit of chocolate goes a long way for me. Mmmm.. I need to go hunt down a pink carton now.
10) Best piece of advice anyone’s ever given you?
Somebody told me that the bible would give me comfort when I needed it most. And that has been true in the craziest times of my life. Last year, I felt as though I was being attacked, spiritually. This is the verse that got me through that very dark time:
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against, the schemes of the devil." Eph 6:10-11

And now... My 10 questions:

1. What is your favorite dessert?
2. Everyone has a secret talent. What is yours?
3. Do you have a tattoo? If so, what is it? or which is your favorite? If not, if you were to get one, what would you get?
4. What has been your favorite costume for Halloween?
5. If a movie was to be made about you and your amazing life, what actor would you cast as yourself?  Please explain!
6. What would your Real Housewives tag line be? If you don't know what that is, What would be your motto?
7. What was your favorite TV show growing up?
8. If you could be invisible for 24 hours, what would you do and why?
