A Royal Birthday at Medieval Times

When I asked my daughter what she wanted to do for her birthday, she knew right away where she wanted to celebrate her 8th birthday- Medieval Times! It had been two years since we last visited and got a behind the scenes look at the horses and knights in training. The dinner and show definitely left a lasting impression on my girls because whenever we drive down Beach Blvd. in Buena Park, they would point out the castle and ask when we were going back.

Every single time we go to Medieval Times, we have a great time. The entire experience from beginning to end is so much fun. From the time you enter the castle, to the dinner and show, all of it is so memorable. I love how excited the girls are to be taken back in time. The knights, the horses, the fighting, and the story- all of it is done so well and with such consideration.

The Feast

The feast itself is definitely a favorite part of the night. For the adults, you will be happy to know that it is plenty of food. This will not be one of those times where you will leave dinner and have to stop to eat on your way home. The meal consisted of Dragon Soup (or the less fun name- tomato bisque), Baby Dragons (1/2 roasted Chicken), seasoned corn on the cob, roasted potato and garlic bread.  My girls eat it all! I think the fact that they are allowed to eat with their hands has a lot to do with it, it's just more fun that way. The dessert is usually a pastry, we had a slice of delicious lemon pound cake.  This visit, we were given the birthday package and had some additional items to help us celebrate.

When you purchase the Birthday package, each member of your party receives a framed photo of your party with the Princess or King, a team flag, a slushie drink in a collectible cup, a slice of birthday cake and a special birthday announcement.  All of the extras really did make the birthday girl feel extra special.

It's hard to put into words how awesome the show is at Medieval Times. The whole show is entertaining from start to finish, I personally love the flight of the royal falcon.  Honestly, it's rare to find a good dinner and a show that the whole family will enjoy and this is it. I'm always in awe of both the horses and their handlers and the relationship between the two of them. Of course, the Knights are amazing! Although the most impressive part is when they compete in the tournament and are so talented when it comes to their weapons and fighting.  I like to see their Knights personality for the character come out, whether they are very friendly or the villain of the night.

If you were to ask my daughter what her favorite part was, she would say it was when the Yellow Knight tossed a flower her way. Our Knight, the Yellow Knight was awesome. He really got our section going and we had so much fun cheering him on.

If you haven't been to Medieval Times yet, you definitely need to add it to your list of things to do. Whether you are in the mood for a fun family night out, date night or to celebrate a birthday, Medieval Times will make the night memorable.
