This weekend I had the honor of attending the kickoff to a wonderful cause, the 2nd Annual Knott's Berry Farm for the Cure, all opinions are my own. From now until March 27 when you purchase a Pink Ticket at a discounted rate of $39 for adults and $35 for a child's ticket, Knott's will donate a portion of the proceeds to Susan G. Komen Orange County.
In 2014, Knott's Berry Farm helped raised nearly $100,000 for the organization through ticket and merchandise proceeds. The funds raised help provide breast health care and services to the underserved and underinsured women and men in Orange County. 75% of the funds raised for Susan G. Komen are used to provide local services throughout Orange County:
- Breast cancer detection and treatment education
- Information and support for breast cancer survivors and families
- Funding for free mammograms for uninsured and underserved women
- 25% of the funds raised for Susan G. Komen support national research to discover the cure for breast cancer.
This year Knott's Berry Farm held a banquet to honor a fellow blogger Jaime Jenkins. Jaime is one of my favorite people to follow on social media, she is a mom of two littles and has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. If you see her and that beautiful smile of hers, all you would see is strength and hope and courage. I was honored to watch these beautiful women get together and celebrate life in one of the most exhilarating ways, riding a roller coaster.

This is just one of the many posters around Knott's highlighting a survivor and sharing a bit of their story. I have to admit that breast cancer scares me. The statistics speak for themselves: 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 61% of Latinas diagnosed with breast cancer are diagnosed in the late stages, this is mostly due to the fact that Latinas are just not getting checked in time.
Please, get yourself checked and don't wait. In the meantime, have some fun, live your life, go to Knott's Berry Farm and buy a Pink Ticket to support Susan G. Komen Orange County.
