If you follow me over on Instagram, then you would know that my 2018 word of the year is CONFIDENCE. It is the one area, the one part of me, of who I am, that has always been missing, that has never been there. Now, raising two daughters, in the world that we live in, suddenly lacking confidence didn't seem okay. It seemed like I was doing myself (and my daughters) an injustice. So, I'm working on it.
Okay, now before I get into all of that. Check out the trailer below for I Feel Pretty, starring Amy Schumer.
Yup, it's that funny. I laughed so much but at the same time I felt like they were talking right to me. Has that ever happened to you? Where you feel like something is speaking directly into your soul? Lol! That sounded way deeper than I intended, but holy crap this movie spoke to me.
Without giving too much of the movie away. Amy Schumer's character is much like most women out there, she feels invisible and lacks confidence. After some head trauma, she comes out the other end completely convinced that she has changed, that she looks AMAZING! But really, nothing has changed. Her appearance hasn't changed one bit, the only thing that changed is that she has all the confidence in the world. Imagine that? That made me think. Now I have the answer to the question: If you could have one super power what would it be? Confidence.
Amy Schumer walks around with her head held high, feeling good about herself and even confident enough to go for her dream job and talk to that super dreamy dude. If you are a fan of Amy Schumer's comedy, then you know that this was the perfect role for her.
Side note: Michelle Williams totally steals the scenes with her character! Oh my gosh. Just wait until you hear her speak.
So, what better movie experience can you ask for, than going with friends, laughing your ass off and walking out of the theater feeling better about yourself? That's what I Feel Pretty will do for you.
While laughing at Schumer's ridiculousness, you will also find yourself realizing that this could be you too. That lacking confidence can be the very thing holding you back from being happy. That we as women, are way too hard on ourselves.
I Feel Pretty hits theaters everywhere this Friday, April 20th!
