Okay friends! Happy Who-lidays! I love visiting Universal Studios during Grinchmas. I mean, Universal Studios is always fun and there is pretty much always a new attraction to check out. But there is something even more amazing about the way that they bring Whoville to life. Each time I visit I am blown away by the beautiful 60 foot tall tree, but even more so by the citizens of Whoville.
From the moment we walked in to the Whoville area, a very nice policeman came up to my girls and said, "Hey girls! Wow, you've grown so much since the last time I saw you!" Oh my, you should have seen their faces light up. I think mine lit up too! All of the citizens of Whoville go above and beyond to be so friendly and make the whole experience memorable.
Okay, so I'm going to warn you, the line to meet and take a photo with the Grinch is long. When we got there the wait was 45 minutes. But I am going to tell you right now, it is worth the wait! For one, they have it set up so the kids can color ornaments while they wait and you can either keep them and take them home or hang them on the trees in the waiting area.
Also, meeting the Grinch is kinda priceless. He takes the time to talk and interact and take photos with every single person. He chats with you and will even tease you while taking a funny selfie.
Here is another one of my favorite activities to do while visiting Whoville. Head over to the post office and fill out a postcard that asks for 3 good deeds. Once you fill that out and sign your name and which city you are from, you take it to get stamped by the postman and mail it. For each post card filled out, FIRST BOOK will donate a book to a child from your home town. How awesome is that?
Oh and when visiting the Post office, make sure to ask for a map for the scavenger hunt. My girls LOVE scavenger hunts. They take it upon themselves to figure them out on their own and even though the prize for completing it is small, they feel so proud that they accomplished the tasks.
All day long you can see shows right in front of that big tree!
- Listen to the carols of the Who-ville Singers. (They are really good!)
- Catch Martha May and the Who-Dolls’ big holiday revue
- Catch story time with Cindy Lou Who.
And you can catch a quick mini show on the real Whoville set when you take the Studio Tour. That was such a fun surprise!
If you are looking for something fun to do with the family this holiday season, I definitely recommend checking out Grinchmas at Universal Studios. Grinchmas is open this weekend, December 10 and 11 and from December 16 through January 1st!
