Can you believe it's almost the new year already? We are all so busy with fun events, holiday parties and just every day busyness. The time passes us so quickly and the now the new year is upon us. What are your New Year traditions? Growing up in California, one of ours has always been watching the Rose Parade. Next year, since the New Year falls on a Sunday, the 128th Rose Parade will take place on Monday, January 2nd.
For the 2nd year we were invited to the DOLE family fun day where we not only get a peek at the DOLE float, we get to help decorate parts of the float too. If you were to ask my girls what their favorite part is, they would probably say hanging out with the 2017 Rose Court Queen and Princesses. How many little girls can say they jumped in the jumper and surfed alongside a real life Queen?
This is the 2017 Tournament of Roses Queen Victoria. All members of the court are incredible young women and Queen Victoria left a lasting impression on my daughters. They so proudly wore their Rose sticker that Queen Victoria presented to them.
Dole Packaged Foods, notorious for its award-winning Tournament of Roses Parade entries, and the record-holder for most Sweepstakes Trophy wins, has revealed it's Hawaiian design inspiration for its 2017 float “Spirit of Hawaii” and kicked off the road to the Rose Parade with its Spirit of Hawaii Sweepstakes and Spirit of Giving partnerships with FOOD Share.
We were treated to a delicious Luau lunch and a performance by Polynesian dancers. DOLE, thank you for having our family out for such a fun day.
Throughout its participation in the Rose Parade, Dole has showcased various countries and cultures where DOLE fruit is grown. Dole Packaged Foods is committed to providing convenient, healthy, non-GMO fruits and snacks to help people live long and healthy lives. The 2017 float features fresh, non-GMO fruits and vegetables grown by DOLE, including bananas, pineapples and mangoes.
Along with the ‘Spirit of Hawaii,’ Dole is participating in the ‘Spirit of Giving,’ and will be collecting non-perishable food items as part of its participation at the annual Live on Green event in Pasadena Dec. 30 –Jan. 1. to benefit Ventura County’s regional food bank, FOOD Share, part of Feeding America, and its partners throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Dole has selected FOOD Share President and CEO Bonnie Atmore to ride on Dole’s Rose Parade float in honor of her commitment to feeding, nourishing, and educating the hungry.
Live on Green is another one you can add to your list of things to see and do in the LA area. Dole would like to invite you to stop by anytime between December 30th - January 1st to enjoy a multitude of fun activities, including musical and theatrical performances, films, a family fun zone and celebrity chefs!
