Have your kids read it? Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey. I've seen the book around at the book fair and I will be the first to admit, I looked right past it thinking this must be a book for little boys. As a Mama to two little girls, Captain Underpants has not joined our book collection. Until now.
A couple weeks ago we were treated to an early screening of Captain Underpants. The minute I heard we were invited, we had to read the book. I had my daughter ask her friend at school and luckily he had the first two ready to loan her. Well, one day later, both books were read and she was hooked. I heard her laughing out loud and sharing funny parts with her sister, it's like a Mom's dream come true to watch their child really enjoy reading.
It was even more awesome to watch her face light up, as the characters she just read came to life on the screen.
Tip: Thanks to Scholastic, you can also find the book in Spanish.
About Captain Underpants the Movie
Based on the worldwide sensation and bestselling book series, and boasting an A-list cast of comedy superstars headed by Kevin Hart and Ed Helms, DreamWorks Animation brings audiences the long-awaited global movie event, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. This raucously subversive comedy for the entire family tells the story of two overly imaginative pranksters named George and Harold, who hypnotize their principal into thinking he’s a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants. -Dreamworks Animation Captain Underpants
The movie was great, I loved it, both of my girls loved it and I can bet your kids will love it too. It's perfect for the Summer, in fact, you could probably get them to do a bit more Summer reading too.
