Get Ready to Get #LostInOz

This Summer we got Lost in OZ. We were invited to an advanced screening of Amazon's newest original series, Lost in OZ and had the most magical time at the after party.  Inspired by the Oz book series by L. Frank Baum, the story follows 12-year-old Dorothy Gale and her trusty dog Toto as they search for Glinda the Good in the hope that she can send them home to Kansas.

My girls LOVED Lost In Oz, they are 7 and 8 years old and they were completely caught up in the story, the magic, and the problem solving. As for myself, I was entertained. I liked meeting the characters and seeing how they added a twist to the original characters from the book and movie.

Amazon did such a great job at transforming the event into OZ for the kids. After the screening, we went downstairs to a cocktail reception. With kids mocktails on one side, adult cocktails on the other and passed appetizers, everyone was having a great time and then just like that, the curtain dropped and there was OZ! The whole area was transformed and the kids had some really fun crafts and activities, photo opportunities, food and a build your own ice cream sundae bar.

Lost in OZ is an animated series that expands on the multiple Emmy Award-winning Amazon Original special, Lost in Oz: Extended Adventure, a magical, modern adaptation of the beloved OZ books from L. Frank Baum for today’s generation of families.

In Lost in Oz, 12 year old Dorothy Gale, played by Ashley Boettcher, discovers her mother’s magical travel journal hidden beneath the floorboards of their Kansas home. The book triggers a tornado, which rips her house from its foundation and transports Dorothy and her dog, TOTO to Emerald City. In order to get home, Dorothy learns, she must acquire every element on OZ’s “periodic table of magic”- while the city faces the worse magic drought in eons.

Along the way, Dorothy and Toto meet unlikely allies in West, Ojo, Reigh the Lion, Scarecrow and Glinda the Good. Who are each eager to help, but struggling with their own problems. Together, they navigate the magical landscape of Oz, challenge the dangerous witch Langwidere and embark on their own unique journeys of self-discovery.

This is such a cool twist on the original and of course, I'm always up for something that may inspire future reading. As a parent, you can use this as a way to transition them into reading the classics.
